Blog by swodogg - I just read over at ESPN that the fight with Kelly Pavlik vs Miguel Espino is on for December 19. "Say what" you ask? As you all remember, Kelly Pavlik was set to fight the man many consider the most avoided boxer in the sport "Tall" Paul Williams. It was a much anticipated showdown to close out a strong boxing second half of the year on HBO. The fight was...
Blog by Javier Reyes (bodysnatcher) It’s no secret that everyone cheers for the underdog, Wilt Chamberlain said it best when he said "nobody cheers for Goliath." For that very same reason in boxing sometimes we let out emotions get the best of us, specially when we see an underdog on the verge of pulling off an upset. It’s happened plenty of times and fights like Barrera/Juarez and Juarez/John are perfect examples. Fights in which the favored fighter won the fight on points but fights in which the opponent finished so strong that it left people thinking that they were bad decisions.
The talking is nearly over, its time for the technical game plan in the
ring. Liverpuncher.com was at the Wild Card Gym in person to see with
our own eyes if Pacquiao was ready for Cotto. We have done our
exclusive video technical analysis of the game plan Roach will use to beat Cottos
vaunted pressure and left hook to the liver, aka the "Liverpunch".
Look for Pacquiao to implement these techniques in the fight! Click here to see the full report
Chad
Dawson, fighting in his home state, won an unanimous decision over an older and
slower Glen Johnson to remain undefeated and win the interim WBC light
heavyweight title.
The
27-year-old Dawson, who vacated his IBF title to fight Johnson, outboxed his
40-year-old opponent, who was never able to get close enough to land the hard
punches that made their first fight in April 2008 so close.
About 5,000
people showed up for the bout at the 16,500-seat XL Center, which is about 40
miles north of where
Dawson grew up in
New Haven.
Dawson (29-0, 17
KOs) now awaits
the winner of the Dec. 11 bout between WBC champion Jean Pascal and Adrian
Diaconu.
David Haye
backs up all his talk and wins the Heavyweight World Title vs. Valuev over 12
round majority decision.Scores were
114-114, 116-112, 116-112.It was a
close fight over all with David Haye mostly working from the outside.Valuev continued to chase the smaller Haye
and in the 12th round was staggered with a left hook, with only 1 minute left
in the fight.Valuev then tied up the
smaller Haye and was able to recover.Haye stayed on the outside using his quicker feet and taking his
opportunities to jump in when the time was right.
This sparks
new blood into the Heavyweight landscape and may open more doors for bigger
things to come for the HayeMaker.
Don King master of the public promotion got on his soap box to predict an outcome for the Valuev vs Haye fight. And to no ones surprise he is picking his fighter, Valuev to knock out Haye. Reciting verses from the bible, King says "This David doesn't have the stones or the sling shot to knock out Goliath! He left his tools at home!"
This prediction may come true, Valuev outweighed Haye by 98 pounds!
Oscar De La Hoya wrote in his blog on the Ring Magazine website, which is owned by Golden Boy Promotions, that Arum gave Pacquiao a larger than normal ring to favor him in the fight.
De La Hoya said, “I believe that’s the reason (promoter) Bob Arum arranged to have a big ring, to give Pacquiao an advantage. Arum promotes both fighters but, obviously, it benefits him more if Pacquiao wins so they’re going to favor him.”
Arum held nothing back in his response.“Is that little (expletive) crazy?” …read on for more
