Andre Ward outclassed Allan Green winning every round and earning a unanimous decision victory in Oakland CA to retain his WBA 168 pound championship. All 3 of the offical judges had the fight 120-108 for Ward. With the win, Ward advances to the semifinals of the Super Six tournament and will face Andre Direll next.
Ward (22-0, 13 knockouts) completely controlled the fight starting off with a good jab to the body. Green found out early that Ward was not an easy target and couldn’t land his infamous left hook. Ivan Calderon earned an unanimous decision over Jesus Iribe in
the WBO Junior Flyweight Championship in Theatre at Madison Square Garden on
Saturday night.
Calderon was knocked down with a hard right hand in the second round, but
used movement and slickness to win most of the remaining rounds.
“I got hit hard and went down in the second round, but I knew good movement
would beat him,” Calderon said. The judges scored it 118-109, 118-109, 116-111 for Calderon.
