Team Pacquiao has responded to all the allegations and the story now takes a new twist. The mega fight for the ages may end up being a fight in a court room instead of a ring. Pacquiao is now asking Arum “to help me out in the filing
of the case as soon as possible, because I have had people coming over
to me now asking if I really take performance-enhancing drugs and I
have cheated my way into becoming the No. 1 boxer in the world.”
"Enough is enough. These people, Mayweather Sr., Jr., and Golden Boy
Promotions, think it is a joke and a right to accuse someone wrongly of
using steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. I have tried to
just brush it off as a mere pre-fight ploy but I think they have gone
overboard", said Pacquiao.
"I maintain and assure everyone that I have not used any form
The devil is in the details. The Mega fight of Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather may not reach an agreement by Thursday, Arum's self-imposed deadline to get a deal done.
The disagreement continues to be the sampling method used to detect performance enhancing drugs. Team Mayweather wants to use the Olympic standards of random unannounced testing while Team Pacquiao wants three blood tests - after the first press conference in January, 30 days before fight time and after the fight.
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 22, 2009) . . . The mega-fight between Floyd
Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is now in jeopardy after Golden Boy
Promotions, on behalf of Mayweather Promotions, learned today that
Manny Pacquiao is refusing to comply with Olympic style drug testing as
outlined and mandated by the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA)
and as requested by Mayweather's management to ensure fair play and
sportsmanship by both fighters.

Through his lawyer Franklin Gacal, Manny Pacquiao has reportedly said he wants a $10 million penalty for every pound or fraction of a pound that Floyd Mayweather is overweight for the proposed 147 pound match up between the two fighters.
This is an unprecedented penalty amount requested by Pacquiao. However perhaps Pacquiao feels that Mayweather will come in overweight to give himself a greater size advantage. Mayweather had to pay a $600,000 penalty to Juan Manuel Marquez in September for two pounds over the agreed upon weight of 144 pounds.
This hard ball negotiating move could also be a power play response to Mayweather's request that Pacquiao be blood tested for performance enhancers as done in the Olympics.
Edwin Valero stopped veteran Hector Velazquez after
six rounds Saturday night to keep his WBC lightweight title in a town on
Venezuela’s Caribbean coast.
The 28-year-old Valero (26-0, 26 KOs) was bleeding from an eyebrow and his
nose after a pair of accidental head-butts early in the fight. But the feisty
Venezuelan kept attacking, giving Velazquez (51-14-2) his third loss in four
fights.
Kelly
Pavlik stopped Miguel Espino in the fifth round Saturday night to defend his
middleweight titles, ending a difficult year on a high note.
After a
10-month layoff because of a staph infection on his left hand, the WBC and WBO
champ dropped Espino to a knee in the fourth round with staggering rights.
Pavlik knocked Espino down again in the fifth, and referee Steve Smoger stepped
in at 1:44 into the round.
Blog By Gun Ru Hammer (MIke Franzak) - A fair shake is what they were looking for, and that is exactly what two contenders received Saturday night at the University of Illinois Chicago Pavilion.
Finding himself in the middle of the recent judgment debacles, Paulie Malignaggi was searching for a venue that would acknowledge his skills. However, another surprise contender came out victorious on Saturday, and that future champion was the Chicago boxing scene. Juan Diaz should also be credited for his great effort in the fight, however, it would simply be impossible to award 3 winners in one event, and he didn’t quite measure up to the competition Saturday night.
Blog by Javier Reyes (bodysnatcher) - We can all agree that the Welterweight division has been the most talented division in the past few years. Guys like Devon Alexander, Mike Alvarado, Timothy Bradley, Paul Malinaggi, Juan Urango, Marcos Maidana, Amir Kahn, Victor Ortiz and Lamont Peterson all make their living fighting in that division. Read on for more….
According to the Grand Rapid Press, one of the conditions to having the
mega fight in March is to undergo random Olympic style drug testing
prior to March 13th.
Lenard Ellerbe confirmed the report with David Mayo.
“I’m not going to get into that,” Ellerbe said. “But people can read between the lines. Al and I made sure
