Antonio Margarito takes a big chance against Roberto Garcia E-mail
Three-time world champion ANTONIO “Tony” MARGARITO  will take on ROBERTO “Amenaza” GARCIA in the main event of Latin Fury 14, Top Rank's championship extravaganza this Saturday.  If you have never seen Garcia fight, read on to see a video of him...this guy can bang and is no push over for Margarito.  Garcia has the tools to upset Margarito's plans to face Manny Pacquiao later this year.  Read on for more...

“This is my championship fight. I have worked very hard to get to this point and will not let this great opportunity pass by. I have come to win this fight and that is what I will do on Saturday night,” said Garcia.

Roberto Garcia (red) vs Juan Carlos Rubio (white)

Garcia (28-2, 21 KOs), a native of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico who fights out of Weslaco, Texas, enters this fight riding a five-year, 14-bout unbeaten streak. Garcia possesses impressive power in both fists, where 75% of his victories have come by way of knockout and many of those stoppages produced by devastating body shots. During his impressive streak, Garcia has captured the Caribbean Boxing Federation interim welterweight title and the Texas welterweight title.

Roberto Garcia was virtually unknown when he walked into Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym in Hollywood California.  He started to get attention when he stepped in the ring to spar with the best the gym had to offer.  Through his boxing skill and punching power he quickly earned the respect of everyone in the gym, including Freddie Roach.  He has since sparred with only the best fighters in the 154 pound weight class including Alfredo Angulo and many others.

Fighting Roberto Garcia might prove to be a horrible decision for Margarito as a comeback fight after such a long lay off.  Many boxing insiders give Garcia a big chance to pull off the win in what should be an all action bout.  Be sure to catch it.

this may be a horrible decision if he loses, but if Margarito wins he's going to be called a nobody! this kid may have hella pop, but the fkr gets tagged like nobody's business and a'top of all that, HE'S NEVER FOUGHT A WORLD CLASS FIGHTER! i think Amenaza will eventually succumb to the pressure as well as the crowd! and the homie looked hella shook at the presser! VIVA EL TORNADO! and why isn't this on the fantasy league!?

i hope this nobody kicks the shit out of that cheater. fuck margarito. the man cheated and still refuses to tell the truth. i have never thought of margarito as an elite, and i was one of the very few who said shane would kick his ass. but i was willing to give him a chance only if he admitted to knowing about the wraps. he still lies. what a piece of shit

As much discontent as I may have for Margacheetoe. When LP puts Kayo vs Caballero--among other meaningless fights on the Fantasy League. This should have been there. Maybe El Tornado Mentiroso is not only banned from fighting in America but also from LP Fantasy League. "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy"

I don't see this as being that much of a threat if Margarito has 1/2 what he did.

How has Margarito even come close to earning a Pacquiao fight? He was never very good in my opinion. Just a brawler, not a world class fighter who only deserves to fight the Vargas' and Mayorga's of the sport.

I would like to see a Cotto rematch though. One where we can be certain he wasn't cheating. I think it would probably go Cotto's way for sure.

wont go cottos way. same thing would happen and if his gloves where loaded that fight he would have knocked cotto out in the first few rounds. cotto just gave up from being phisically and mentally beat up to the point of submission. loaded gloves would have knocked him out. you kill people with that stuff, people dont last 11 rounds of beating with that stuff , they go down and dont get up. think of last time you or someone you know had a cast on. now imagine it hitting your face time after time again.

I pick Cotto over Margarita!!!!he chopped up Cottos' face with concrete in his gloves.Cotto won't run from him and may knock him out since Mosley soften him up and also showed body shots affect Margarita.
