Bernard Hopkins Decisions Ornales, Still Wants Roy Jones Jr.! E-mail
In his home town of  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bernard Hopkins (50-5-1, 32KOs)  dominated Enrique Ornelas (29-6, 19KOs) over twelve rounds to earn a unanimous decision.  The scores were 118-110, 120-109 and 119-109.  Read on to hear what  he said about Roy Jones getting knocked out….

It was a typical performance by Hopkins who used a measured approach early in the fight and slowly picked up the pace.  Hopkins countered  well and held on when he  had to.  Hopkins stunned  Ornales a few times in the fight and really poured it on in the last two rounds  where he appeared to still have lots of  energy while the younger Ornales faded down the stretch.

At the end of the fight Hopkins said, “Ornales is a good fighter, he took some good shots in there, and I took some good shots in there.”

When asked about a potential match up with Roy Jones Jr. Hopkins  said that the fight can still  be made despite the fact that Jones lost by TKO in the first  round.  Hopkins  said, “There is a big difference between  getting  knocked  out and a  TKO.  That was a TKO.  Jones was still on his feet.  I didn’t think a  lot of the punches were landing, Jones was on the ropes like he always does.”

Could this be Hopkins attempt at salvaging a pay day with Jones?  Don’t rule that out.  However that fight is more than likely off of the table.

Hopkins also commented  about his  future in the heavyweight division.  He said, “In 2010 I will be Heavyweight Champion of the world!”

Does this mean he will fight the Vitali and Vladamir Klitschko because I I think Hopkins would beat any heavyweight as he is just to technical for them, I would have liked to seen him regain his old title before moving up though. smilies/grin.gif smilies/angry.gif smilies/sad.gif smilies/cool.gif :- smilies/kiss.gif

Jajaja....what is Hopkins saying a TKO is not really a KO. Jones got popped in the chops and was on his butt in one round. End of story. Hopkins should Just go up and fight David Haye.

yea jones didnt get knocked out cus the ref stopped it, it was the refs decision roy could of kept fightin, i think he jus got caught with a lucky punch then after the count green runs across the ring and catches jones before he can even get out of his corner, and bernard could of got a knock out that night i think he wus taking it easy on em in the later rounds and then turned it up in the 12th lookin fo a knock out but he should of turned it up in the 11th but hopkins and roy will still be a good fight

THAT FIGHT IS NOT GONA MAKE ANY MONEY. NO ONE IS GONA WANT TO SEE IT. B HOP WOULD GET A LOT MORE FIGHTING A CHAD DAWSON, PAVLIC REMATCH OR EVEN A PAUL WILLIAMS FIGHT OR WINKEY REMATCH PEOPLE PAY TO SEE B HOP FIGHT FIGHTERS HE SHOULDNT BE BEATING AT HIS AGE. THEY DONT PAY TO SEE HIM FIGHT WASHED UP FIGHTERS. IF HE WANTS TO FIGHT A WASHED UP FIGHER, FIGHT DELAHOYA AGAIN. THAT MAKES A LOT OF MONEY AND A LOT MORE SENCE THAN A ROY FIGHT.

bernard will get knocked out in the heavy weight class. he doesnt have the size or strength to compete or even produce a knock out himself.
