It seems
that David Haye has got his wish… or
has he? The Haymaker will be facing a Klitschko
next year, however not Wladimir. In
Germany,
Haye was ringside for Wladi’s TKO victory over Hasim Rahman. While in attendance he and Vitali sat down and went over terms for a match up in June. Haye
was quoted: “This is going to be the biggest fight since Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.
I am not cherry-picking, I am going after the most dangerous fighter on the
planet. We sat down with K2 Promotions and thrashed out a deal in the early
hours of this morning. We agreed terms and just need to dot the It’s and cross
the T's. Plain and simple, this is how boxing should be.” Vitali does have a
mandatory defense against the Cuban Juan
Carlos Gomez, however Bernd Boente (Vitali’s Manager) said that the fight
will go on with or without the belt. The fight will take place in
Britain or
Germany. One thing is certain, this
fight appeals to the whole world of boxing.
After his
split decision victory over Demetrius
Hopkins, Kendall Holt is now planning on facing Timothy Bradley in a 140 pound unification. It now seems that Ricardo Torres will be left in the
dust. Holt vs Bradley will provide a
clear cut number one contender if a Pacquiao
vs Hatton match up takes place.
The tables
keep turning for Floyd Mayweather’s
comeback. Freddie Roach said that
Manny wants Floyd, because Mayweather is the best the game has to offer. He
also might of made Floyd a bit angry by saying the Floyd is flawed and Manny
would take advantage of those flaws. Reports have come out saying that if Floyd
were to return, Floyd Sr and Roger Mayweather would train the former
undefeated pound for pound king. That would make things very entertaining for
24/7. Ricky Hatton is throwing his hat into the situation as well, saying to
Floyd “Manny is MINE!” It sounds like Manny Pacquiao is a fresh fish in a
prison movie….
Juan Manuel Marquez is very close to striking a deal
with Juan Diaz, which would be for
the Lightweight Championship. This fight is a real contrast of styles and
should provide for fireworks. Look for it to take place in Feb of 2009.
