By- radimmortal18 Reports are
coming out that WBO welter weight champion Miguel Cotto will be facing IBF
welter weight champion Joshua Clottey for a unification bout at
MadisonSquareGarden
June 13th, 2009.
Joshua
Clottey is currently on vacation but is making it known that he will be the man
to step into the ring with Cotto in for the June slot.
The two
fighters are both represented by Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions and are set to
meet
at the
Puerto Rican Day Parade. Cotto is coming
off of a recent strong performance via 5th round TKO of Jennings in which he
won the vacated WBO title.
Clottey has
a 9th round TD over Zab
Judah
that took place last August in which he obtained the IBF title.
this is a good one.from this we will know if there are any after effects from the margarito fight for cotto and as for clottey we will know if he belongs with the elite's.Good fucking fight!!!!!
this fight is fkn major!! this is going to check Cotto's heart for sure!! i know Clottey has it, im just wondering what kind of game plan he is going to come in with, this is a crazy style fight!! i cant wait!!
I got Cotto... I think Clottey's lack of aggression and passiveness will come back to hunt him. To beat Cotto he is gonna really have to press the action, and Clottey is a natural COUNTERPUNCHER!
Who the fuck wants to go down to Tijuana and get paid almost nothing to fight Margarito? Hell no one. He's thru. Clottey vs. Cotto is very interesting, but I'll take Clottey via TKO in the 9th.
Clottey getting his big shot on the big stage. The dude better shake off any ring rust since no one wanted to fight him. This is going to be a great fight. This is no gimmie fight for Cotto thats fo sure.
