Darchinyan wins! Wants a Rematch with Nonito Donaire |
|
|
Vic Darchinyan (33-2-1, 26) KO's interim world super flyweight champion
Tomas Rojas (32-11-1, 22KO’s) of Mexico with a hard left hand in 2
rounds! Rojas who appeared to throw more punches in the 2 rounds was
KO’d onto his back by a left to the chin. Darchinyan moved back down to super flyweight
after losing to Joseph Agbeko at a fight at
bantamweight. After the fight he said, “I didn’t rush and go for big punch.” When asked about a possible rematch with Nonito Donaire he said, “Every night when I am sleeping I only think about fighting against these guys….first I want to fight Donaire."
Promoter Gary Shaw chimed in to say, “I’m trying to get Nonito Donaire, I’ve asked the WBA to call for a purse bid …We’ll go after Donaire now.”
Donaire already posted up a response to the fight on his Twitter account: "Just watched Vic D. It was hard to cheer him on but I did because I want to fight him in April!!!" We'll see how it turns out in 2010!
