Edwin Valero vs De Marco On Showtime, Who Will Win?
Its fight weekend once again and this time we get to see the youtube legend himself, Edwin Valero (26-0, 26 KOs) take on the tough and talented Antonio De Marco (23-1-1, 17 KOs). Despite owning the WBA 130 pound championship and now the 135 WBC title, it’s the first time Valero will fight in Mexico and on mainstream cable TV.
"Fighting in Mexico is actually a benefit for me and I look forward to it,'' Valero, 28, said. "Mexican fans are great fans and they know this sport very well.” Read on for more…
"I'm very excited about this fight and thrilled to be fighting on Showtime. DeMarco is a good, young fighter who has great aspirations, like most young fighters, and I respect him a lot. But I believe my experience will be an important key. He hasn't fought the kinds of fighters I have and he hasn't fought in world title fights. I'm very confident that once I connect with one of my power punches, he will feel it.''
De Marco poses a serious threat to Valero as he is a 5’10" southpaw to Valero’s 5’7” ½. However Valero has said that he has fought tall fighters before and has adjusted his style to be more patient in the fight.
Valero said, “Now, I take it round by round and let the knockout come. I don't go into any fight looking for a quick knockout. I try and measure my opponent and get my timing down and go from there. I'm in there to do a job, which is to win and stay undefeated and keep my title. If this goes the distance and I win, I'll be just as happy as if I win by knockout. I am a pressure fighter, but I know I have to also fight smart.''
This will be De Marco’s toughest fight of this career but that doesn’t appear to bother him. He recently knocked out Almazbek Raiymkulov, Anges Adjado and Jose Alfaro for the interim belt in October. To De Marco, Valero is just another fighter standing in his way.
De Marco said, “He’s a fighter, period. I’m aware he is a southpaw but that doesn’t faze me. I’ve been in the ring with four other southpaws and did really well against them. I feel that when I fight against a southpaw I react especially well since I‘m a southpaw, too. I know what to expect. That’s not to say that I only expect him to come in fighting southpaw. I know he may change his style so I will make my own adjustments.”
this should turn out to be real good fight ..demarco is no bum has the skill and heart just not sure about chin and valero is def faster...its about time liverpuncher mentioned this fight ive been talkin about this for weeks eagerly waiting for this bout think whoever wins this will def get a nice buzz going hell maybe even loser gets buzz undercard is good matchup also
yeah valero is talented just dont think any oponent has brung out the best in him yet ..valero can box very well but has not had to yet hes been to fast and strong for all his oponents so far except mosquera but i think demarco will give valero the chance to shine unless pulls upset wich i think he has a slight chance of doing..
damn just seen 41yr old glenn johnson woop macks ass wow glenn will not leave the sport quietly LOL man he gets a shot at cloud now but i think cloud is gonna ko glenn .cloud is to young strong great chin combination puncher..shit dawson let go of his belt not to fight him ..man cloud is gonna put a hurtin on johnson ..cloud and dawson would be great or cloud vs pascal only a slick boxer stands a chance against cloud this guys a animal just is so inactive fought like only twice in like 18 months
I told you it would not go 10, but can you imagine Pac retiring and Roach training Valero, he looks like the Pac from 6 years ago. I think he hits a little harder at that weight, of course Diaz is not a good indicater.
yeah valero looked good i mentioned he can box but the opesition has never forced him to box ..demarco made him box and damn valero reminded me so much of pacman the way he would flurry then bounce out of harms way..demarco showed heart but didnt throw barely any punches guess valeros 4-8 combo kept him in a defensive mode all night ..glad they stoped it when they did demarco had to be saved from himself think he will be back but def has to stay away from valero...valero would destroy katsidis
