Joshua Clottey: Yes, but it’s not because of
Cintron.
John Krause: As a native of
Ghana, what is
the greatest part of being Champion?
Joshua Clottey: It is good for me to become a
champion for my country because we are the best boxing nation.
John Krause: What are your thoughts about Margarito
and his hand wraps?
Joshua Clottey: It is very bad for him to cheat
like that. Who knows how long he has been using it?
John Krause: Do you think Margarito wrapped his
hands illegally for his fight with you?
Joshua Clottey: Yes because why did he do (that)
on Mosley? That means he has been using it long (time).
John Krause: What advice do you have for any
aspiring boxers?
Joshua Clottey: It is a very hard and tough sport,
so if you want to do it, do it 100 percent, and if you can’t, please don’t
start because it is not a joking sport.
John Krause: What has been your greatest
victory so far and why?
Joshua Clottey: Corrales, R.I.P.
John Krause: In your opinion, who are the three
best boxers in the world?
Joshua Clottey: Roy Jones Jr., Oscar de la Hoya,
and Miguel Cotto.
John Krause: What are you doing now, Champ?
Where are you and who do you want to fight next?
Joshua Clottey: I am just at home so I always play
with my computer and I want to fight who is the best in the division because I
want to be best and I know I am the best. So I think (the best) is Mosley now.
John Krause: Will you try to make a fight with
Mosley happen?
Joshua Clottey: Yes. That was like 3 years ago
when he was coming back to welterweight and he fought David Estrada. It was
supposed to be me but he said “no,” and he chose Estrada.
John Krause: What have you been doing since the
Judah
fight?
Joshua Clottey: Nothing. Just went to show the
belt to
Ghana
people and came back last year October. Looking for opponent to fight, nobody
wants to step in the ring with me and it is unbelievable.
John Krause: You have always been willing to
fight anyone, why is that no one is willing to fight you?
Joshua Clottey: Because my style is very difficult
for them, my defense (especially). I always know where I will hit before I hit,
and if you can remember Winky Wright, they didn’t want to fight him because he
had a good defense, too.
John Krause: Great points. How are your hands?
Joshua Clottey: Yes, my hands are fine now.
John Krause: Thank you very much, Mr. Clottey.
I should have the interview up on liverpuncher.com within the next two days. I
hope we can continue to talk and you have a new opponent soon.
Joshua Clottey: Ok, thanks.
