Fantasy League Champ Named! E-mail
With an excellent record of 13 wins, only 3 losses for a total of 277 points…..and the NEW champion for Season 3 Boxing Fantasy League, 2008 EVERLAST21!

This is one for the record books here a liverpuncher.com where it came to the last possible fight in the league to decide this season’s winner.  Everlast21 came from behind to overtake the lead on the last day, picking Joe Calzaghe to win via 12 round decision.  Picking up 277 points in the process and crowning him this seasons champ!

“I just can’t see Joe losing this fight. Bernard is a crafty boxer, but Calzaghe has the superior hand speed, boxing ability, and youth on his side.”

On an interesting note, Everlast21 was last season’s number one contender with an excellent record of 15-4!  The guy knows his boxing and as we say here at liverpuncher.com, fight fans are the experts!

Newcomers this season, #1 contender GusGus (13-3) and #2 contender BigMikeG11 (12-4 1KO) were both leaders holding on till the very end.

Grand Prize

For winning this seasons championship Everlast21 will get a $40 gift card that can be used on anything in the Liverpuncher Boxing Shop.  Also, check out his personalized championship page dedicated to his accurate predictions this season:

Big Upsets and Big Wins!

2008 so far has been a year for major upsets in some of the hottest divisions in our sport.

In the welterweight division, Paul “the Punisher” Williams was dethroned in a major upset where 3 members called right….Huki, BigBoxingFan81 and as GusGus would write: “on any given day a true boxer can shine, lets hope Quintana is a true boxer”

Another major surprise this season were impressive wins by the aging but durable veterans Nate Campbell over Juan Diaz, and Joel Casamayor …..pulling off the KO in 10 heats over Katsidis!

Dohawk excellent analysis said it all,  “Katsidis leaves himself too open after throwing all those punches he will get hit by Casamayor. Joel is very slick he will frustrate Katsidis as this is Katsidis first test in his career.”

We saw the workrate of Povetkin beat Fast Eddie Chambers, Kelly Pavlik remain undefeated, and the Roy Jones of old dance with the great Tito Trinidad ……And lets not forget the fight of the year thus far: Vasquez win over Marquez in 12 brutal heats in their trilling trilogy.  Its been quite a year thus far for us boxing fans!

KO’s of the Year

The most impressive show of power this season came from both Miguel Cotto and Antonio Magarito.  Both fighters dominating their opponents on the same card.  This award goes to body head banger and tbone calling the 6th round KO for Antonio Magarito and bossingdarwin and trouble calling the Cotto KO right on.
“Gomez going the distance??? No way. There is no risk in this fight for Cotto!!”

Best “Liverpunch” of the Year

This award has to go to tnap who became a top 10 contender this season….and we ask where does he come up with the “colorful” commentary?

“Kermit is going to find out not only is it not easy being green; it's not easy being black and blue either. Tony beats him like a redheaded stepchild.”

Season 4 Starts off with a bang!

We have compiled the schedule for Season 4, which you can view here.  It starts off with Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano and Paulie Malignaggi vs Lovemore N'Dou on May 24.  The polls for this will be open this week!
