Big fight weekend is on its way here at Liverpuncher.com!
On the HBO card is a Puerto Rican vs. Mexican affair all over again with Miguel Cotto vs. Alfonso Gomez and Kermit Cintron vs. Antonio Magarito. The Contender star is the underdog yet again in this fight. Many didn’t give him a chance vs. Peter Manfredo Jr. or Arturo Gatti, but he proved many wrong in the past. He’s back but as many point out, it will be an uphill battle and Contender stars have not done so well in the past.
Size, Strength and Experience all stack up against the Mexican A.Gomez as many LP members have pointed out.
Tnap mentions “Gomez doesn't hit near hard enough to keep Cotto off of him
” and it will be a long battle ahead for the Mexican.
Riley12 is calling on the Liverpunches to be the downfall for Alfonso Gomez “Miguel too strong in this one he will dominate Gomez with hooks to the body.” JoeLuis has similar feelings had 3 words to say: "Cotto's Liver Punches” will do Gomez in.
Fatdaddy even went as far as saying “If Gomez wins I'll start watching Dancing with the Stars!” We’ll be sure to keep you honest!
Others are calling on Gomez to put on a good show and even possibly WIN! Thepugknows is one of these believers. He’s going for it and says “
I am picking Gomez to shock the hell outta the boxing world!”
BoxerHarris and Dohawk and also calling a shocking upset, knowing Gomez is known for pulling them off in the past: “this year has been full of upsets what makes you think this one is impossible?” We certainly have seen plenty of 'em this year!
Cintron vs. Magarito: The Rematch
Cintron vs. Magarito is a rematch of their last affair which took place on ESPN’s PPV as many remember. It’s a step up for Cintron who has been on the comeback trail with Emanuel Steward in his corner and has been racking up KO’s along the way.
Badintentions is looking for the bodywork to be Cintrons Downfall: “
Margarito will break him down with heavy body shots.”
While Tnap uses some “colorful” commentating in his assessment of the fight:
“Kermit is going to find out not only is it not easy being green; it's not easy being black and blue either! Tony beats him like a redheaded stepchild.”
