Lucian Bute Stops Miranda In 3 Rounds

MONTREAL -- Undefeated Lucian Bute stopped Edison Miranda 1:22 into the third round to retain the IBF super-middleweight title Saturday night at Bell Centre.

Early in the third, Miranda mocked Bute and dared the Montreal fighter to give his best shot to the body. Bute then had the Colombian scrambling with a flurry of punches, stopped for a second to grin at his opponent, then finished him off with a combination.

Miranda got up, but was still wobbly and the fight was stopped.

Bute, a Romanian who moved to Montreal in 2003, improved to 26-0 with his 21st knockout. Miranda dropped to 33-5.

Impressive knockout not as impressive as the one against Librade in my opinion just because Librade had never been stopped before. Bute is creating a lot of excitiment in the super middle weight division and what's even more exciting is the middle weight division is shaping up to be just as deep as welter weight.

impressive indeed. I loved the reaction from Miranda prior to the KO. He was like "Is that all you got?" after a body blow , then again after another strong punch, Then a great upper put him down for good.(one of the greatest uppers this year, up there with the D. Alexander Vs Urango).

i love the fact that he can work the body and he actually has pretty ok defense. He can be a real threat to whoever wins the supersix. He's gotta come out of Canada though.
