Mayweather wins via UD over Mosley E-mail
LAS VEGAS(AP) —Floyd Mayweather Jr. put on a virtuoso display of boxing skill in an unanimous decision over Sugar Shane Mosley on Saturday night, keeping his perfect record intact.
Mayweather gave a masterful effort in his most dangerous fight in several years against the 38-year-old Mosley
who put Mayweather on his heels with several rocking punches in the second round. Mayweather regained his composure and thoroughly outboxed the veteran champion. Mosley didn’t have the power or precision to follow up his dynamic second round, losing in his first fight since stopping Antonio Margarito in January 2009. Mayweather accepted this fight when negotiations with Manny Pacquiao broke down over Mayweather’s drug-testing demands. He could fight Pacquiao later this year.

I will be the first to admit I was wrong about this fight. Floyd is truely blessed in the ring and he is a incredible fighter. He may never loose. I give him full credit no exuses. Ill never be a fan of his but I will admit as a fighter he is outstanding.

nice to see someone let the man have his props and not make excuses. no excuses after this one. no welt in the world can mess with this dood. he would destory manny. will never happen anyways.nice match. floyd rocked but kept composer and pushed the match 3rd round and had mosley backin up. controled the rest of the match. physically handled mosley all match. i hope manny takes that test. but even if he does no way he will have a 50/50 split. not after the ppv numbers come in.

There is a little truth in that Anthony, but Floyd changes the dynamic of a fight. All those words he said about Shane had a mental effect. That plus his great speed make him very hard to beat.He is gonna be very very hard to beat. He proved he has guts and he is the real deal. Every person on this site knows I dont like Floyd but is is outstanding as a fighter.Theres a big chance hell never fight Manny cuz he wants more money and testing and Manny wont fight under Floyds terms.

Floyd wasn't even close to being stopped, it was just a good shot, and he recovered in under 3 seconds, he's been hit good before and reacted fine, chin has never been questionable, neither has his heart. He can do it all. But I'm disappointed in Shane, he was either discouraged by the fact that he was badly out classed, or just wanted to survive 12, not something you usually see from a warrior like Shane, but Floyd can make even the best of fighters look like sparring partners

Pacman is still better said: _

Yeah, kfc had to wait til Mosley was a grandaddy to fight him. Had that bout happened years ago, I'm pretty sure the outcome would have been different.

He's now waiting for Pacman to turn old or get distracted with politics before fighting him. hey, pac has other lives you know.

No glory in this fight, sorry. It was as boring as the Clotey=Pax match.

Thats kinda the point with boxing, when somone gets in your head it makes you angry you tighten up and loose your rythm. Shane was hurt mentally by the things May said and it showed, but thats no exuse Floyd can fight as good as he talks and Il never doubt him again cuz he proved he is totally blessed by the very hand of Christ.

The guys that's making the excuses of Shane is too old and stuff need to stop and give the man his props. Mayweather outclassed Mosley so badly. You guys wanna know why Mosley got tired? If you can't hit what you can't see and your getting hit with punches you can't see it wears you out. It takes so much more out of a fighter when they miss punches. Clottey was a heavybag for Pac. Mosley was trying to fight, and Mayweather just brought it to him. Mayweather is definitely the best fighter in the world. No one can do what he can do.

Sometimes you doubt a fighter cuz he hasnt fought the best. We cant say he hasnt fought the best, he fought the best and was 6 steps higher anyways. He is on a spiritual level. God had a fighter in mind with this guy. He almost defies all logic. I would like to see him fight Manny and then Sergio Martinez at 154 after he cooks Pac. I dont see him loosing but those are great fights.

I knew that was gonna happen. Floyd is one of the best in the game. He really showed he can take a punch. Mosley hit him hard and he did get hurt but he recovered like a true champion and he kept his composer and he embarressed shane..

As for manny. Hmm many throws alot of punches.. Yes.. Mannys got stamina.. Yes.. Would be a good fight. But i think floyd will knock him out. My reason why. Paquio throws alot of punches and over commits himself. Floyd will counter him and i think eventually slow him down and KO him. Pac is also alot smaller. People thought shane was gonna be the agressor and have more power.. It wasent the case here. Mayweather was buly far the stronger fighter.

its crazy how the same people who said mosley would knock floyd out are now talkin this old buisness. always an excuse. manny has no defense. floyd would destroy him. who has manny matched up with anyway. everyone he has stepped to was someone elses left overs. when is he steppin up to someone on the up and up. a martinez,pw,berto, bradley, floyd. next to be antonio who what oh yea ko'ed by mosley. hatton ko'd by floyd cotto ko'd by antonio. keep the hait up it would not even be competative i would be shocked if manny lasted 4 rounds. hope it does happen so we can hear all your excuses the next day. keep the hait up 2 million + yesterday 11 million made at the door top ten all time. lets see manny do those numbers.

Money is a gifted boxer folks, maybe not a crowd pleaser we saw that in the second round wen for the first time in all the fights that ive seen mayweather got wobbled but then he just went back to the corner and recouped and just let mosley have it only how mayweather knows how to. So for all you manny fans who really believe in your hearts that manny will beat money...forget it even if he submits to the testing mayweather will humiliate manny and all you manny fans will come on here and cry all day long but honestly if u want to see manny fight u as manny fans should push for a 3rd marquez fight so he can resolve that issue and leave that money weather fight cause sometimes we ask for something we cant handle me myself dislike money mayweather but i cant deny greatness love it or hate it pacman fans but its something that needs to be thought of

At this point I think it is more on Manny to make the fight then Floyd. Floyd just clowned the third best fighter in the world and took a bulldog and turned him into a puppy. If Manny fights somone else then to me he would look scared of Floyd.I dont want anymore drama I just want a super fight sighned sealed and delivered between these two as soon as humanly possible.

If these welters dont want the cash with Floyd then lets see a Floyd Martinez sho-down. This fight is interesting because the both are so fluid and fight in a simaler style. Martinez is now the number 3 fighter in the world since Shane's loss to Floyd. And it just makes for a great fight.

agreed goldenbear77 - There should be no excuses.. mayweather stood there and traded with THE champion of the welterweight division. and no one this morning is calling for Mosely to retire like they did to Roy Jones Jr. Mosely is still on top of his game and gives anyone else at welterweight right now fits.. and mayweather didn't just beat him, he beat him DOWN and totally outclassed him.. not only that mayweather took Mosely's best, perfectly place shot, weathered it and went on about the business of of winning rounds.. i thought may'd pull out a jab, but nope.. he saw that Mosely was on edge and jittery so he see started fainting him and that stopped Mosely in his tracks and couldn't pull the trigger.. he hurt Mosely enough for him to totally lose his confidence.. mosely can't adjust.. GAME OVER!! mayweather makes it into a high stakes chess match.. and he's the grand master

stop with the lame excuses guys.. Pacquiao is not going to fight Money May.. not now.. no freak'n way.. mayweather would stop pacquiao for sure.. they have to know that.. i have absolutely now doubt.. marquez had pacquiao on queer street in their second fight..

i do hope though that pacaroids/roach is stupid enough to fight Mosely.. that would be a very entertaining fight.. and competitive.. unlike money v pacaroids.. that would be like placing lighter fluid and gasoline in the ring and seeing which wins..

i honestly am not personally that interested in even seeing pacquiao vs money because it would be even less competitive than this one.. the only reason i'd like to see it is to shut up all the incredibly stupid pacaroid fans.. that would be the only reason..

i watched at a bar with some friend and that fight was great to watch as about 80% of the tables got REALLY quite around, round 3-4 and many just started leaving around round 7-8.. honestly don't think that pacaroids is making it out of that ring on his feet if he ever grows the balls to fight mayweather.. anyway, not going to happen roach and arum will not let that happen..

Money man finally spoke with punches! He defeated a legit no bs fighter. And he defeated him with ease.! much props! No berto aint beating him! no pacman is beating him. He's the true no1 now. And that's all i wanted to see. for him to take the risk. He's not out of my banned ppv boxer list. I can not enjoy mayweather fights in the confort of my home!

As a Mayweather hater I do wonder and its not an excuse, but if you add: vegas odds were ridiculously 4-1 and the way the fight went after the second round, (shane was gassed after the 3rd!! WTF!!) plus the fact that there's a mega match in the close horizon with pacman. I cant deny to say that it smells fishy. I guess he's that good that i can't justify it. smilies/smiley.gif

Ps. Oscar should be feeling good. . He's been looking better without fighting. as in he did better than most with these two fighters. (pac and floyd)

@ Alex Santillan - you say that Mayweather fought a dehydrated old fighter. What do you think Pacquaio did when he fought Oscar at WELTERWEIGHT!?! De La Hoya hasn't fought at welterweight since 2001. Then he fights Pacquiao at that division? Stop kidding yourself man. Stop trying to find excuses when Floyd dominates another opponent. Just to let you know if you know anything about boxing. Pacquaio's style is perfect for Mayweahter's style. Money May would destroy Pac.

So Pacman fans, what if it comes out that he's cheating? What impact do you think that will have? Guess what.....NONE! He fights Mayweather's left-overs anyway. Look for him to fight Shane. I bet a million of Floyd's money on it. They won't even attempt to make the fight with Floyd according to Arum. Who hasn't spoken up yet? Where are you Bob?

Pacman WILL fight Shane. At which point they will start calling Shane a great fighter again instead of old. Dan Rafael will lead the way. Watch. He's Arum's boy toy. Rafael says he respects him. That means he drinks his bath water. Don't do that with Pacquiao though. Your test will come up positive.

Mayweather showed the world he can bang it out with a big puncher, there are NO excuses, and people can't you see what's Mayweather's gift?? it's not speed, or power, its unbreakable will, and his ability to break down his opponent's spirit, he WILL break Pacquiao down mentally weather you guys like it or not, look at the Cotto (rnds 10-11) and Clottey fights, Pacquiao gets frustrated EASILY by a good defense, Mayweather will break Manny's spirit and KO him you will see.

Yes, Gun Hu I have watched some exciting boxing matches. I saw the family of the great Mexican legend Barrera cry when Pacman trounced their idol and was saved by the towel; I saw Morales sitting dazed under the ropes not knowing where he was after the tornado Pacman hit him hard; I saw Marquez knocked down 3 times by the hard hitting Pacman; I saw David Diaz twirl full circle before hitting the canvass face down; I saw my idol Dela Hoya sitting motionless on his bench not knowing what him and he was merciful to himself by quitting in his corner; together with the 25,000 Manchester United cheering squad I saw the cocky Hatton slip into dreamland in the middle of the 2nd round; I saw the family of good boy Cotto leave in the 9th round, leaving Miguel backpedalling for his dear life; and Clottey? forget him - he was too ashamed to show his face. One thing that I remember vividly - these guys' faces looked more like a tomato patch after a stampede. And it was always the case, MayJonesJr - before the fight these guys were legends, undefeatable, powerful, heavier, taller, superior, etc, etc....after the fight they were dehydrated, over the hill has beens.... so what else is new? Oh, and I also saw the ho-hummmm bouts between Floyd vs Marquez and Floyd vs Shane - I actually fell asleep, sorry about that. Any more boring fights coming?

Mayweather makes great fighters look bad all the time so I wouldn't say that Mosely is washed up now, Floyd jsut did his thing and did it well. Hopefully the Pacquiao fight will happen later this year. Honestly, I'll probably back Pacquiao in that one but of course, the most likely outcome is a UD for pretty boy Floyd in any fight.
