Cotto vs Hlatshwayo would be the best bet. An easy title win for Cotto then seek a rematch against Margarito in September somewhere other than Vegas which hasn't been very friendly to him. Atlantic City fits the bill! |

why would cotto fight margarito. what has anyone seen in the last two fights that would make anyone think he could beat margarito. margarito took his manhood, hart and soul. he wants no part of that man. i have not heard him say anything about wanting a remate . i have not heard anyone in his camp say anything about a rematch. results would be the same. he can not beat mosley. did you not see what mosley did to margarito. mosley was going throught divorse during the first fight. some people think mosley won the first fight. a great fight would be cotto vs marquez. pride of puerto rico vs price of mexico. easy to promote. both sides can make a lot of money. but cotto would loose again. margarito took everything out that guy. cotto needs to start thinking about his future. after boxing. QUALITY OF LIFE. he has taken a lot of damage the last three fights. abrum is looking at this guy as a cash cow he can make a lot of money off of. cotto needs to realize this. the best thing for him would be to take a good 10 to 12 months off. let your head heal. he is going to end up dieing in the ring or end up being the pueto rican version of Ali. I hope people around him get of this pride shit and start thinking about cotto the person. he needs time to heal that brain. he has a beautiful kids that he should be thinking about. take long time off. then give it one more try if same result. time to retire. same with jermain taylor. sometimes the end just comes fast like a tone of bricks. |

Time to retire? really after 2 fights. Yea he lost but how many great fighters had more than 2 losses? how many were in brawls where there faces where just a mess but still fought? nd i'm talking about past nd present. yet they continued to fight nd now they're greats. even the "great" manny pacquiao has 3 losses, nd look where he is now. please ppl need to stop talkin ish. Cotto has only 1 real loss, nd thats to Pacman, that Marg. loss, c'mon only an idiot believes Marg. didn't have plaster of paris in that fight. Cotto does need to take time off but thats only to re-evaluate his camp. He needs to get rid of his trainer nd get back his uncle. Stop mixing work nd play, nd buckle down when he starts training. But Cotto is still a beast, anyone not agreeing isn't a boxing fan, just someone who dickrides or hates fighters, not someone who actually understands the basis of boxing and fighters. Nd' Marg. trust that rematch will come. but right now i agree, he either needs a rest, or a tune up fight. but he's not finished. Mentally he's a lil gone i agree, but thats opinion, skill wise, he still has the movement, the power, nd the heart, he's got a few more fights in him. |

Those who say he should retire obviously have no faith. Miguel cotto is a champ who is over coming his first loss, which messed him up mentaly a great deal and several life obsticles. If he needs anything it is a better corner and some time off, but if you think he should retire your knowledge of boxing and its true champions is lacking. |

Cotto has a lot of fight still left in him. Retirement isn't something he should consider anytime soon. I do agree that he doesn't look as good as he used to after his loss to Margarito, but I think with a new trainer and couple tune up fights his confidence will be back and he'll once again be one of the pound for pound best fighters. I think Emanual Steward would be a great fit for Cotto and he'll be able to take Cotto to that next level. Cotto needs a strict camp that will in a sense "BITCH HIM" around and make sure he's on point. The fighter should NEVER dictate the training camp. Also in the corner, he needs someone to give him real advice in between rounds. I think Cotto should fight Ricky Hatton and get his confidence back up against a well known quality fighter. Juan Manuel Lopez would be good also, a little more riskier, but I still would see Cotto winning by decision. The guy only has two losses, one of which was to a cheater, and the other to one of the greatest fighters in this era. So retirement sounds kind of premature and in fact STUPID at this point. After a couple tune-up fights, not only should he fight Margarito again, but in fact he NEEDS to in order to bring himself back mentally to what he once was. If in fact he does beat him in the rematch, depending on how good he looks in the ring with a new trainer, I believe a rematch with Pacquiao woulndn't be foolish neither. |

I believe that Cotto needs to invest in a new camp to include a quality trainer just like pacquiao when he invested in Freddy Roach. Cotto has quite a bit left in his future, however, without the right adjustments in his training, and his staff he is going to turn out just like Tito Trinidad. I like Trinindad but I believe that if he would have taken the proper steps and changed his staff he wouldn't have retired so early. If Cotto is wise and makes these decisive changes he can come back from these two losses and be the ferosious champion PR had at one time. Personally I just want to say that I dont care what people say. Cotto is the best fighter in Boxing right now.. The only problem lies in the camp that he has.. He just needs to get himself straight and get a new Trainer thats experienced and a veteran.. He also needs to dedicate more to boxing than playing.. why do we see people like Mayweather Jr., Mosley, and Pacquiao dominate is because the DEDICATE all to boxing.. Dont get me wrong.. family comes first but more time needs to be added to his carrer, then we will alll see that WARRIOR in Cotto. Cotto has a lot of potential, that if people say he needs to retire.. wooow they are crazy... We should all clearly see that just because of two loses doesnt mean anything.. And the fight with Margarito.. that was such a lie.. we all know that Cotto can dominate him.. I mean lets look at the facts.. Mosely is a GREAT fighter, dont get me wrong, but Cotto beat him.. and if Mosely dominated Margarito, Cotto can do it better.. there HAS to be a rematch so that when Cotto dominates him he can come out and be that real fighter that we know is in him.. soo I suggest he gets his camp straight and then go and fight.. have a fight against Juanma then immediatley go after the cheating boxer Margarito and have a rematch in the same place they fought the first place.. not only would that bring Fans but it will attract more people into boxing.. |
