Opinion: De La Hoya could ruin Pacquiao E-mail
Blog Alert: by barrykil1980 barrykil1980

Lets make this much clear: Pacquiao is not a lightweight; he’s an average size featherweight at best.  One win over the face first, 135 pound David Diaz does not a lightweight make.

Oscar De La Hoya is a junior middleweight and has been for years.

The De La Hoya vs Pacquiao fight is a horrible mis-match. Manny Pacquiao is a special fighter, a once in a lifetime battler, but he is human and any man only has so many fights in him.

Manny would fight a crocodile if you paid him enough because he’s a true fighter. He will give his all in there.

But who really wants to see this marvelous little warrior take a beating just to line the pockets of an already super-rich fighter like De la Hoya.

This fight could ruin Pacquiao.  One really punishing fight can often take it all out of a guy and then he’s never the same again.  I love Pacquiao and I would much rather watch him do his thing in ten more fights against men his own size than see him beaten up by what amounts to a bully.

Can people not see that De La Hoya is acting cowardly? He’s afraid to fight a man his own size because he can’t handle taking punishment. He feels that he is somehow so special that he doesn’t have to!  He really doesn’t care what you, me or anybody else thinks because he knows all of us will pay to see it.

He went down against Hopkins before Bernard could get a chance to rearrange his face.

Frankly, how people are still paying to see this mollycoddled poof of a pug in any sparring session he chooses to televise absolutely amazes me.  De La Hoya is a shameless charlatan.  Are we really all freaking idiots? Oscar sure as hell thinks we are.

I’d strongly advise anybody that considers themselves a supporter of Pacquiao to boycott this fight.  It’s an insult to our intelligence as fans.

If you have to watch it, watch it in a bar, or get all your friends around one TV but do not put money in their pockets.

Show them that we do actually know what were looking at in there.  Vote with your feet!

The funny thing is that on yahoo sports, the consensus is that Manny will win by KO. Must be a lot of nubees voting.

thats the thing about this fight, people think manny can win! and whats even crazier is that some people think this fight is a joke, but STILL think manny will win, i just dont understand that logic.

im totally with you on the part where i would rather see pac-man fight another 10 fights besides getting anihilated fro that scrilla'!! Manny still has a lot of opponents he can face especially in that division that he's in! there's all these fights coming up here in the week or 2, all of them wanting a shot at Manny, and that title he just took from DD! then he's got a couple of jr. welterweights he can take on if he decided to go up from 135 then! its going to be a tough fight to watch but i am watching it! and yes this is some crazy shit! and no Manny will not win!! its to bad man....i hope Manny comes out healthy! great piece by the way!! stay vertical!

Whatup Barry Kill....Hillarious man. I agree with you on most of your points. But Im a hard core fan and Im gonna watch. DLH can fight Mini Me, Tatoo, or Arnold from Different Strokes and people will pay to watch. It doesn't matter who he fights at this point in his career. Have you seen DLH on TV lately? The guy has been to the Latin Grammies, the Latin Sports Gala, and is all over Univision walking Red Carpets with all the latin stars in L.A....Its rediculous. He ain't ready to fight a real welterweight or any welterweight for that matter. Hes too busy hob nobbing with Mario Lopez and the gang

I saw Teddy Atlas the other day on ESPN and he was clowning Goldie. He wishes he would just go away but he says its the fans fault for continuing to buy his fights. By the way, he picked Pacquiao

Thanks for the info guys.im genuinely picking my jaw up off the floor here!!!
WHO are these people that are picking Manny??
Dont get me wrong....id love to see him break every tooth in the Golden Girls head but im a realist, not a starstruck fan. The most im prepared to hope for is that Manny somehow makes this nonce look bad.id love if Manny could cut her face to ribbons.....wouldnt that just break her heart!!!
Would she look for a soft spot on the canvas again if maybe her face was leaking claret all over the ring??maybe she would convince a referee or doctor to help her out.......but against a man this much smaller i dont think even SHE would have the audacity to pull that dive shit again.
but hey you just never know with the Golden Girl...shes done it before and by just making this "match" ,which is tantamount to schoolyard bullying, she has proven once more that she truly has a neck like the proverbial jockeys bollocks!

lets face it, boxing is business, and most of the time money make things happen.

De La Hoya is scared of fighting anyone the same size as him after bernard knocked him out but its just insulting to real fight fans intelligence to try and make us believe this will be a competetive fight. FOR GODS SAKE MANNY STARTED AT 105 POUNDS how the hell is he going to be able to beat someone at 147 who has fought at middleweight and is 4 inches taller than him
