Saul "Canelo" Alvarez To Spice Up Mosley-Mayweather Card E-mail
By Manny V -  The promotional battle for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (30-0-1, 22KOs) was won by Golden Boy Promotions and they are wasting no time putting him in front of a large audience.
He is scheduled to be on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley pay-per-view undercard on May 1. “Canelo” Alvarez, which  means “cinnamon” in Spanish and given for his red hair, is sure to spice up the card and attract many Mexican fight fans to the event.  Alvarez  has developed a significant  following south of the boarder.

He is scheduled to have 3 fights this year with Golden Boy, and depending on how Alvarez performs its assumed he will eventually mix it up with the elite welter weights.  Imagine a year  from  now “Cinnamon” Alvarez  vs. “Sugar” Shane, now that would be a treat for fight fans.  It will be interesting to see who his opponents will be this year, as they will surely be picked very selectively.

Eric Gomez of Golden Boy said, read on for  more…

"Mayweather and Mosley have not signed but the fight is almost done. The fight is 98% made. A few small details having to do with television are missing, but the fight will certainly happen.  We will start Alvarez's first of three fights that we have with him for this year. They will be against some of the top 10 welterweights. He wants competitive fights and he'll have them."

This guy will almost certainly become champ. The real question is do you put him in there with Julio Cezar Chavez? Or do you wait until they both become champions and win recocnition and accoloades? I prefer the ladder, however I would not rush a good thing, because this fight will be GIANT later if these hungry young men continue winning.

i doubt chavez jr could make 147 and i would recomend canelo stay at 147 where the big names and money are but got to fight step ups and challenges at least the caliber of the fighters i before mentioned ...and personaly chavez has peaked and its safe to say he will never make any P4P list

delvin glass jaw rodriquez. lost every big match he was put in. should should have taken the clottey fight when it was given to him make enough money to pay for a ok size house with this bad market and call it a day. beating him doesnt do much. they have tried to coddle him into one big pay day but he cant even beat middle to top class b fighters. beating him proves nothing. for a first fight. actually might not be to bad. but as far as delvin being a recognition opponent. no. small stepping stone.

exactly the point a small stepping stone but never the less has been a contender so would be a good first figt in u.s its a.good fight to gauge how good he is right now cause all other fights have been local dont think they gonna do like they did with tim bradley go from local to first fight away from home for a title esp not in the WW division

I wont speak too soon on Chavez cuz it is soon too tell, what is he 22-23? I was vacationing in Mexico and cought a fight of his last year that was not shown in the us, and the guy he was fighting had a 27-0 record and put up a great fight and Chavez answered damn good, they bombed each other for all 12, and blood was everywhere! It was a fight that showed me he has alot of heart. It was a barn burner, you might be able to youtube it but I dont remember the other guys name. Any how I would like to see him in three years time.

cavez jr shwoed he can box against vanda but that was prob his most legit oponent and hes nothing special and he really doesnt seem to have that hunger i would actually pick john duddy to beat chavez jr and i dont know whats up with his weight at 154 was cool but now moving up and still struggleing to make weight seem like to many probs i liked the way he looked early but i think hes peaked and has not looked any better than a B class fighter but this is boxing anything can happen..I seen pac early on espn and never in a million years would have thought hed make it to be #1 boxer in world much less our decade

The guy wasnt Vanda, it was somone else. His weight is a problem. He is either growing still or he eats too much. If it is the ladder then he probly wont make any lists.

yeah but even as a B class fighter hes made more than some elite thanks to milking his daddys name had or has potential just needs that fire inside but think has already made to much money and dont think he really loves the sport ashame he had some nice power and physical attributes

Well it looks like Canello gets to fight on the national stage, because Shane vs. Floyd is official according to philboxing.com, they report that they had a conversation with Leonard Ellerby (Floyd's closest adviser)and he stated that this Superfight is a done deal for May 1 2010. Mayweather took the fight to clear his name, and because this fight will pay great money, not as good as Pac , but a royal payday just the same (20000000 usd) to be exact. Sounds good to me,let the beatings begin!

wonder what pacman is to make for his match up no numbers like that for sure. mosley suppose to be paid fatest amount of his carear for this match up. if he wins. clause for remate riht away. so he could make even more if he can win. clottey is to make a million for his match up feel bad for him still no trainer eather. us wont allow visa for two months at the earliest. sucks. and turns out jerry jones bout 50 thousand dollers worth of tickets for pacman clottey and prices where brout down. thats why didnt expand seatin for match up. not wantin to sell bleads b.s. floyd pacman was to be 100,000 seats in that stadium. more bull shi* from abrum. this kid has his shot to impress. wish him the best. hopefully he has a nice carear delahoya and hopkins doin it. khan is to match up with marquez may 15th. mosley floyd may 1st. may lookin real nice. could have floyd mosley twice. pacman left out in cold. feel bad for clottey. hope he obtains top trainer to help him. and whats up with 1 mill. at least let him have 3 mill. thats messed up. thats abrum for you.

Clotty should use Joe Goosen as trainer if he can cuz Naz Richardson is helping Shane, Roger and Floyd are helping JR. Ronny Sheilds is helping his fighters, the only one available right now is Denver Based Goosen, who knows the sport and used to train former Clotty nemises Diego Chico Corrales. I am glad Floyd showed guts in fighting the best welter in the world (Shane). If Floyd can win he will beat Pac at the bargening table cuz His fight with Shane will outsell Pacs Publicity stunt with Clotty; However if Shane wins then the same goes for him, but he would have to beat Floyd twice in order to meet Pac to make a deal. This fight will make ALOT of money with Shane either way because these fights will find out who is the best fighter in the world out of those three. This will remain a very very exciting topic.

Canelo is the next mexican fighter to be on the top. This guy has speed, skills, great punch, can fight orthodox or south paw, has a power punch on both sides, and most important he is very patient in the ring. Now the fight between Mosley and Mayweather is going to be a good fight. If Mayweather fights Mosley for 2 for 2 it is going to be a Mosley win. But if Mayweather keeps away from Mosley, he will outboxing him and will go for the points. smilies/grin.gif
