The Junior Welterweight Division Is Full Of Talent! E-mail
Blog by Javier Reyes (bodysnatcher) bodysnatcher - We can all agree that the Welterweight division has been the most talented division in the past few years. Superstars like Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto and now Manny Paquiao have made sure that everyone is aware of the 147 pound division. However, seven pounds south of the welterweights, there’s a division that is also full of talent.
Guys like Devon Alexander, Mike Alvarado, Timothy Bradley, Paul Malinaggi, Juan Urango, Marcos Maidana, Amir Kahn, Victor Ortiz and Lamont Peterson all make their living fighting in that division. Read on  for more….
Not only do those young guns fight in that division, but you also have superstars like Manny Paquiao (the lineal champion), the always popular Ricky Hatton and maybe even Juan Manuel Marquez. As if that wasn’t enough, you also have former lightweight champs like Joel Casamayor and Nate Campbell now trying to make a living in this stacked division. This past Saturday we got to see five of the top 140 pounders in the world, all in pretty decent scraps.

Malignaggi backed up his talk in a very impressive performance against Juan Diaz. Victor Ortiz got back in the winning column by stopping Antonio Diaz (who may be 33, but looks like he’s about 43); and Timothy Bradley showed that he may just be the best out of all of these young junior welterweights by handing the first defeat to Lamont Peterson. HBO has taken notice of this and if you believe the rumors, there have been talks of making a Devon Alexander/Marcos Maidana fight along with a Victor Ortiz/Amir Kahn fight. Honestly, if you pair any of the above mentioned guys against each other you simply cannot go wrong.

THE RAGING BULL!
I love Vic Darchynian, the guy talks a big game and he always tries to back it up.  You simply cannot expect anything less from him than an entertaining fight. Having said that, if I’m him, I stay far away from Donaire, as we all know styles make fights, and I get the feeling that if he were to ever step in the ring with Donaire again we would see the same result. How ironic was it that the Showtime crew was talking about how Rojas was dominating Arce before getting stopped, right as Vic hit Rojas with the knock out blow, creepy!

I’VE OFFICIALLY ARRIVED!
Just like fighters have signature fights, which announce their arrival, so do writers. Manny Paquiao had the Ledwaba fight, Floyd Mayweather had the Hernandez fight and I can now say I have my Good vs Evil blog. You know you’ve grab readers attentions when you get your first F-U response. For me, well I got over a hundred of them in my last article. I’ve been pretty busy as of late, but I still want to take the time to respond to some of my new readers:

JL said, “If Floyd is light years better than Cotto why didn’t he ever fight him?” Actually he did try to fight him, when they were both at 140. At the time, Cotto’s handlers didn’t want the fight because they felt he was too green. However, the point I want to make is that I didn’t mean he’s by far a better fighter (which he actually is) but I meant to say he’s by far a much, much, better technical fighter than Cotto, Morales, and Marquez can dream of being.

Nobody says “Good always triumphs over evil, Tyson is an example of it for his defeat” Always nobody? Always? I would say Tyson’s first 37 victims would disagree.

Emmers says “You are just pretending to be a Pac Fan. Obviously, you are a Gayweather fan. Put your money where your mouth is. I will bet all that I have saved for my entire life for Pacquiao with this fight!! Go PacMan!!  Sure Mr. Emmers, I’ll see your $5 and raise you $10.

ooh! that sounds tasty Alexander/ Maidana, ortiz and Khan is mouthwatering aswell!!
It would be mind blowing if they could get these guys into a super 6 style round robin tournament but they cold maybe stretch it to 8 of the younger guys mentioned! bit complicated to organise in reality tho

good job bodysnatcher! way to introduce yourself by putting them chumps on blast! they sounded absolutely senseless in ur last piece! im all about the 140 div talks as well, ive been saying that for quite some time now, its just a matter of time before the welterweight division claims its elite champion, then all eyes shall turn to the light-welterweight division which im sure will produce enough time worth of fireworks in the ring to KEEP BOXING ALIVE!!! on a lower(division) note, am i the only one that notices how exciting the 122 and 126 lb divisions are!? seriously....Marquez vs Vasquez IV im sure no ones mad at, Gamboa vs Lopez is boiling, and i see absolutely nothing wrong with Antonio Escalante vs Maestrito Cordoba in the spring....i hope all our dreams come true fellas!

Apparently the guys @ liverpuncher felt adding all the responses would make the article too long. Eitherway, here's the rest of them.

Boxer ( These new guys are the most clever when it comes to picking log in names) says “you don't know what you're talking about...how manny times pacman has to fail you before you learn?” my response is huh?

Jersey Joe “believes a true fan always supports their fighter”. He fails to see the difference between supporting a fighter and thinking that the fighter is going to win. In other words Joe, LA Clippers fans may support them, but I doubt they’re betting on them to win the NBA title.

Black Jack says “ Manny will win, I want to bet my properties against yours.” I’ll see your tree house and raise you a tent!

Avidboxing fan says “javier you are a sh*t (ok I’m starting to think this guy really knows me!) you based your analysis on emotion!” Irony thy name is avidboxingfan.

Lloyd says my opinion is not reliable because in my opinion the best fighter I’ve ever seen is Roy Jones Jr. who just got Koed in 1 round, and he also feels that Floyd is very open for punching much like Ricky Hatton. First of all, somebody explain to this gentleman what prime means and second somebody explain to him that the only similarities between Floyd and Ricky is that they both make their living in the ring.

Billy feels I’m in Mayweather’s payroll, I guess so Billy, that would explain how I’m able to make these high wagers with all of these new posters, $10, tree houses, those don’t come cheap!

Charles cracked the code and feels I’m using reverse psychology.

Don Pedro says that I’m a smart ass (can’t argue with that) and that’s the reason I get hit with so many negative comments, but a hit is a hit and that’s what I’m getting paid for. GUYS AT LIVERPUNCHER LISTEN TO THE MAN!

Jackal also wants to bet me property. What is it with all of these new posters? Is like they’re related to Donald Trump!

Pacfanatic feels that I’m a die hard Floyd fan and I, Javier Reyes (a name of Mexican decent), who happens to use an avatar with the picture of Bolo Young (an actor of Asian decent), should go back to my home land of Africa.

Taeintsik says I’m a Pac fan pretender and I should go lick where the sun don’t shine! If only, Mr. Taeintsik... if only!

Santaklaws is so sure Manny will win he’s ready to bet me his grandmother. Apparently, he’s one of the few Manny fans that does not own property.

The prediction I feel is more likely to happen? That would be Doctorspocs’ “my prediction is that mayweather will punch through pacquiao's chest, rip out his heart, raise it in the air, then eat it, moon walk to the neutral corner and then fly out of the ring” LOL Pay the man Shirley!
