Liverpuncher.com sat down with Robert "the Ghost" Guerrero after his No Contest fight in San Jose this evening to talk about his fight on HBO and whats next for the Ghost.
Here we are
with Robert Guerrero former world champ from
Gilroy, CA
Liverpuncher.com:
How did if feel to fight at 130lbs for the first time in your career tonight?
R. Guerrero:
It felt good but just unfortunate we had to clash heads and I got the cut, too
bad it wasn’t him that got the cut. Its
just unfortunate.
Liverpuncher.com:
What happened in the corner, what was the Dr. discussing?
R.
Guerrero: Well, they were discussing the cut. They asked if I could see, I told them it was blurry and I have blood in my
eye but I’ll fight. The Dr. looked at
the cut and said it was in a bad location and the blood was dripping right into
my eye….and they decided to stop the fight.
Liverpuncher.com:
Did you feel any ring rust in there being you only fought once this past year?
R.
Guerrero: I felt good. I started to work
the body and I started to pick him off. I was feeling good, I was just getting started, too bad the headbutt
happened.
Liverpuncher.com:
As far as the crowd, how did it feel fighting in your hometown on HBO?
R. Guerrero:
It felt real good, big crowd especially a hometown crowd, it was nice. Just a little bit disappointed that I didn’t
get to put the show on that I wanted to.
Liverpuncher.com:
Great night of fights here and
San
Jose, and HBO is already talking about coming back in
July right?
R. Guerrero:
Yes, they are talking about another fight hopefully out here in
San Jose. It would be nice, I just can’t wait.
Liverpuncher.com:
Anything you want to say to the fans out there?
R. Guerrero:
Just sorry that I didn’t get to put the show on that I wanted to. Its unfortunate that I knock these guys out
on TV and when I fight here in
San
Jose I get cut…
Liverpuncher.com:
Well thanks a lot champ and look forward to seeing more of you in the future.
R.
Guerrero: Thanks, no problem
